DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque claimed all seven matches on Wednesday afternoon on the Frank Farber Tennis Courts to beat the visiting Loras College Duhawks 7-0. The 7-0 mark is the fifth match this season the Spartans have dominated their competition in a sweep 7-0. UD improved to 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the American Rivers Conference.
The Spartans captured the doubles point by winning all three of the doubles matches.
Salalee Seejong and
Molly Jex at #1 doubles won 6-4,
Sarah Wilde and
Jayda Floyd captured the #2 doubles 6-4, and the #3 doubles team of
Adriana Benavente and
Maddie Brosnahan won 6-3.
The singles were not easy for the Spartans after four out of the six matches had a tie break to settle the winners. The Spartans would claim all of the singles matches for head coach
Chad Fenwick and the team celebrated after the match by dousing him in a icy water bath at the conclusion. UD will travel to the ITA Regionals hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. on Sept. 25-26 at the Wilkinson Tennis Complex. The Spartans will stay on the road next week when they travel to Cedar Rapids to play the Coe College Kohawks on Sept. 30 at 4:00 p.m. at the Clark Racquet Center.
