DUBUQUE, Iowa. – The University of Dubuque men's soccer team hosted the Elmhurst University Bluejays on Friday evening in a matchup that ended in a 3-0 victory for the Bluejays.
The game started with both teams trading possession and battling back and forth. In the 11th minute, the Bluejays found the back of the net to take an early 1-0 lead. The Spartans looked to respond and created several opportunities from set pieces but were unable to find the equalizer. Elmhurst extended its lead to 2-0 in the 26th minute as the Spartans continued to search for a goal before halftime.
After halftime, the Bluejays came out strong and added a third goal in the 48th minute to make it 3-0. The Spartans came closest to getting on the scoreboard in the 56th minute, but their shot was blocked. UD continued to create opportunities through set pieces but was unable to find the back of the net as Elmhurst held on for the 3-0 victory.
Jameson Carl led the Spartans with three shots, while
Ryan Tapper and
Andre Elinoff each recorded two shots in the defeat.

The Spartans will travel to Lake Forest, Illinois, on Friday, September 25, to take on the Lake Forest College Foresters. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at Farwell Field.
