DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team found Tuesday's re-scheduled road series at Simpson College a tough go after being held scoreless in the doubleheader 9-0 and 8-0 in five innings in both games. The Spartans offense was held to just four hits in the opener and a pair of hits in game two.
Adalynn Ridgeway led the Spartans with a pair of hits in two at bats.
Kaitlyn Powell had one hit and
Lauren Jacobs also singled in the loss. Four runners were left on base and nothing teams played error less.
Ashlyn Short (6-3) started and tossed 1.2 innings allowing six hits and seven earned runs and took the loss on the mound.
Skylar Zoeteman came in for relief and pitched 2.1 innings and allowed three hits and two earned runs after the pair saw 26 batters.Â
UD was held to two singles in the second contest and both by
Zoe Connell. UD left five runners on base in the loss.
Ciaran Rigby (4-6) took the loss after throwing the first three innings, allowing seven hits, seven earned runs, and two walks.
Miranda Saylor pitched one inning and allowed one hit and an earned run.Â
The Spartans continue their busy schedule by hosting a doubleheader on Thursday, April 16 when Augustana travels to Dubuque for a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
