DUBUQUE, Iowa - The No. 4 seed University of Dubuque men's basketball team opens up the American Rivers Conference men's basketball tournament hosting the No. 5 seed Buena Vista University Beavers at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night from the Stoltz Sports Center.
The Spartans finished the season winning their final two conference games against Luther College and then sweeping Nebraska Wesleyan, who won the A-R-C regular season title. The Spartans earned the No. 4 seed with the rights to host the opening tournament game.
Regular Season Against the Beavers
The Spartans start their postseason journey tonight in the A-R-C Quarterfinals hosting the Beavers, who in the regular season split the series with the Spartans. The Beavers took the first game from the Spartans in Dubuque 71-69 on January 3. The Spartans went on the road to Storm Lake at the end of January and defeated the Beavers 84-71 after a dominant second half. In the win over the Beavers,
Grady Thompson finished with 25 points, while
Jacob Williams scored 17 and
Jalen Scott added 14. This trio will be a key factor in the third match up with the Beavers.
What's on the Line?
Both the Spartans and Beavers will play for a chance to advance to the A-R-C Semifinals where they will play on the road at No. 1 seed Nebraska Wesleyan on Thursday in Lincoln.
