INDIANOLA, Iowa - With 12 rebounds on Saturday,
Christina Simonetti is now #10 in single season rebounds with 220 rebounds. The Spartans fell in their final road game of the season 72-65 to the Simpson College Storm.
A back and forth first quarter between the Spartans and Storm saw nine lead changes and three ties with the Storm leading 18-16 through 10 minutes. The Spartans and Storm continued their back and forth scoring until the Storm were able to build a five point lead with 6:09 left in the second quarter.
The Spartans would proceed to go on a 13-5 run that included a trio of threes coming from
Ella Gabbert,
Lilly Craig, and
Grace Brumley. The Spartans built a six point lead off of those three triples before leading 37-34 at the half.
The third quarter belonged to the opposition as the Spartans were held to three made baskets, giving the Storm a six point advantage with 10 minutes left. In the fourth quarter, the Spartans got as close as five, but the Storm were able to maintain their lead throughout the quarter.
Simonetti posted her eighth double double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds. With those 12 rebounds, she moved into #10 on the single season rebounding list with a current total of 220 rebounds.
Craig finished with 14 points, while Brumley added 10 points off the bench.
Avery Green had a season-high eight assists.
