Women's Tennis Drop Doubles Point, Rally to Win Match Over Prairiewolves

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's tennis team started slow on Saturday morning, losing all three doubles matches and also the team point. The Spartans rallied back in singles play and captured four out of the six matches to claim the victory over the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairiewolves by a 4-3 margin on Frank Farber Tennis Courts.

UD would lose a tie-break and win a tie-break in singles play. The #2 singles of Adrianna Benavente cruised through her first set 6-1, she lost the second 2-6 and the two players battled back and forth in the third set before Benavente lost the third 8-10 in a tie-break in the final match of the afternoon. Jayda Floyd in the #3 singles would capture the first set 7-6 (7-3 in the tiebreak), 6-0 to win the point. Molly Jex won 6-3, 6-0 at #1 singles, Sarah Wilde won #4 singles 6-4, 6-0, and Rachel Duck at #6 singles won 6-1, 6-2.

The Spartans (7-2 overall, 3-1 in American Rivers Conference) host the Luther College Norse on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 4:00 p.m. during homecoming week. UD will jump in a van and travel to Simpson College on Friday, Oct. 3 at 4:00 p.m. and continue their road trip on Saturday, Oct. 4 at Central College at 10:00 a.m.
