Softball Win Road Doubleheader Over Augie

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The University of Dubuque softball team captured a pair of wins over host Augustana College Vikings on Monday afternoon by scores of 6-3 and 16-7 in six innings.

In the first game, the Spartans scored six runs off eight hits and committed one error, while the Vikings scored three runs off seven hits. Ally Gullette tossed a complete game and allowed three earned runs and faced 31 batters. Megan Leick went 2-4 with two RBI's, Lauren Jacobs was 2-3  with a run scored and a double, Aubrey Morris was 1-3 with two RBI's and a homerun, and Madison Taeger was 1-3 with an RBI. Grace Stevenson finished with a double in the win.

In game two, UD compiled 16 runs off 17 hits and played errorless as Augie scored seven runs off 10 hits and committed three errors. Ciaran Rigby started and tossed 4.1 innings and allowed seven earned runs, walked six batters, and struck out three. Miranda Saylor came in for relief and allowed no earned runs after 1.2 innings and walked two. Offensively, UD was led by Megan Leick who went 3-5 with an RBI and Morgan Lahner who was 3-4 at the plate with an RBI. Grace Stevenson led UF with three RBI's off just one hit. The Spartans stranded eight runners on base as the Vikings left 12 on base.

UD (22-14 overall, 7-7 in A-R-C) will return to American Rivers Conference play when they travel to Pella, Iowa to face the #23 ranked Central College Dutch on Senior Day (22-8 overall, 7-5 in A-R-C). The Dutch host the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves on Tuesday, April 29 in a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 p.m. The Standings have three teams tied at 7-7, this week will sort out the standings with the top six teams qualifying for the 2025 A-R-C Softball Tournament beginning on Friday, May 9 at a site yet to be determined.
