AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The University of Dubuque baseball team fell 8-2 to the Concordia-Moorehead (MN) Cobbers on Wednesday at the Russmatt Invitational.
The Spartans got the first run of the game in the top of the second inning off a Cobber wild pitch, sending
Tyson Dent across the plate. Leading with a one run lead heading to the bottom of the fourth the Spartans would have three errors and give up four hits that led to seven Cobber runs in the inning. The Cobbers got an extra run in the fifth inning to go up 8-1 before the Spartans added a late run in the seventh inning.
Hitting as the designated hitter, Dent would go 3-4 at the plate and accounted for the first run of the game. Five other Spartans recorded a hit in the game and as a team were able to force four walks.
The Spartans fall to 3-2 overall on the season.
