ANGOLA, Ind. – The University of Dubuque men's hockey team fell 4-0 to #11 Trine University on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans will return home for Dubuque Youth Hockey Night this upcoming Thursday.
The Thunder (5-1, 4-0 NCHA) started the game with an early goal. The Spartans (1-5, 0-4 NCHA) killed a penalty but the score remained 1-0 after the first period. Trine added two goals in the second period but the Spartans killed two penalties to keep the score 3-0 after two periods. The Thunder added another goal late and the game ended 4-0 in favor of the Thunder.
Jack Paweski and
Owen Hardy each took three shots on goal to lead the Spartans.
Zach Burfoot and
Nikita Borodayenko each won the majority of their face-offs, as Burfoot won 10 of 19 and Borodayenko won nine of 16.
Matt Downie and
Cutter Lewis both blocked two Thunder shots in the contest. In goal,
Prestyn Carter made 22 saves as the Spartans only allowed Trine to take 26 shots on goal.

The Spartans will return home for Dubuque Youth Hockey Night on November 20 to take on Marian University. The Spartans will then travel to Fond du Lac two days later to conclude the series.
