Box Score DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque men's soccer team was back in action at home Wednesday as they took on Elmhurst University in a non-conference matchup. The Spartans held very strong for most of the match against a face paced Bluejays team. The Spartans matched their energy as the ball was flying up and down the field in what was a very entertaining first half. The Bluejays were able to capitalize on a few more chances and handed the Spartans their first home loss of the season. 

The first half was fairly even as both teams had five shot attempts each. The Spartans had the upper hand in on goal shots and corner kick opportunities. The Spartans put three shots on while only allowing one in the first half. The Spartans also forced three corner kick set pieces as well. The second half was just like the first half, up and down fast paced play. Unfortunately, the Spartans would fall behind after a counterattack by Elmhurst allowed them to the lead in the 57^th minute. Two minutes later, the Bluejays scored again to make the game 2-0. Overall Spartans shot 16 times with eight shots on goal. Zach Floss led the Spartans with four shot attempts with three of them on goal. Mario Meier also got off three shots of his own with two of them on goal. The Spartans fall to 3-2-1 on the season.
