DUBUQUE, Iowa - In the final non-conference game of the season, the University of Dubuque baseball team lost to the UW-Stevens Point Pointers in a tight 5-4 game.
In the top of the third inning the Spartans allowed three hits and a walk which allowed the Pointers to score three runs and take a 3-0 lead. The Spartans finally were able to plate a run in the bottom of the fourth as
Daniel Maller scored off an
Aidan Elfering single through the left side. With the Pointers still leading 5-2 going into the bottom of the ninth inning, the Spartans had one more shot. The Spartans put the pressure on the Pointers getting a run in while having two on base with no one out in the first three batters of the inning. The next two batters had a sacrifice bunt and fly and then the final batter struck out swinging to end the game.
Elfering and
JD Schaffer each had multi hit games with two hits apiece.
Kyle Radi led the team with two RBI's.
Maguire Fitzgerald got the start for the Spartans and
Edward Rosas and
Aiden Sullivan finished their long careers in relief in their final home game in a UD uniform.

The Spartans will make up a game from March when to travel back to Luther on Tuesday, April 30 with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
