DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's inaugural season ended on Saturday after being swept by #12-ranked St. Norbert College in a 1-11 loss at ImOn Arena.
The Spartans lone score was at 3:31 of the second period when
Nate Holm found the stick of
Sean Thies who scored to slice into the SNC early lead. The Green Knights scored three goals in the first period, two goals in the second and six goals in the third period. They would score six power-play goals in the afternoon. The Spartans compiled 26 shots and were led by
Chris Beyer who had four trailed closely by teammates
Brandon Rossetti and
Charles Levis who both ended with three shots.
The Spartans won 28 faceoffs and lost 66 faceoffs.
Max Messier won 11 faceoffs and lost 10. UD spent 29 minutes in the penalty box after nine penalties.
Erik Chaffe started in goal and played 17:17 in goal and allowed three goals.
Chris Curr played the final 42:43 in the net and allowed eight goals. UD finished with eight blocks.
At the conclusion of the game,
Phil Schader was awarded the team's 2023-24 Spartans Shield Award as voted on by the team.
The Spartans finish their inaugural men's hockey season in 10th place of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association with a 3-15-0 record. They finished with an overall mark of 3-19-2.
