Box Score INDIANOLA, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women's basketball hit the road Saturday afternoon to the take on the Simpson Storm in American Rivers Conference action. The Spartans finished the afternoon with four double digit scorers on the day, but the Storm were able to hold off the Spartans in a high scoring affair in a 87-79.

The Spartans had good success early shooting the ball in the first quarter shooting 47% from the field in the opening frame scoring 22 points. The Spartans heated up even more going 50% from the floor in the second quarter adding 20 more points in the second period. Despite the good shooting from the floor, the Storm were just as successful maintaining a lead throughout, as the teams combined for 94 first half points. The Spartans went into the locker room down 52-42. The third quarter is where the Spartans found themselves in a great rhythm outscoring the Storm 26-10 in the third quarter after sizzling 60% shooting from the field. The fourth quarter saw 11 Spartans points as the Storm pulled away from to defeat the Spartans 87-79.

Samantha McDonald led the Spartans with 22 points on 9-14 shooting, and led with eight rebounds.
Brynn Haas added 16 points off the bench with 7-10 shooting. Senior
Isabella Tierney scored 11 points, and
Morgan Hawkins was the fourth highest scorer with ten points and added seven rebounds. The Spartans out rebounded the Storm 36-32 and also outscored the Storm 42-18 in the paint. The offensive rebounding was crucial for the Spartans scoring 17 second chance points, and 12 points off of turnovers.

The Spartans are back on the road next Saturday December 14 as they travel to Lincoln, Nebraska for a conference match-up against Nebraska Wesleyan University. Tip-off from Snyder Arena is set for 1:00 p.m.
