DUBUQUE, IOWA – The University of Dubuque men's hockey returned home for action Friday afternoon at ImOn Arena as they faced the Falcons of Concordia University (Wis.) in NCHA action. The Spartans had a solid day on offense scoring three goals and finishing in a 3-3 tie. The NCHA plays overtime for an extra point in the conference standings, but extra time was not enough for the Spartans as the Falcons capitalized to finish 4-3.

The Spartans scored first in this match-up as
Jack Paweski grabbed a power play goal with assists from
Nikita Borodayenko and
Kaden Dundas. The Falcons responded to head into the first intermission with a 1-1 tie. UD led again early in the second, this time on an even strength goal.
Max Erstad found the net with
Ethan Lang and
Nikita Borodayenko on the assist. The third goal came later in the half as Borodayenko netted a goal of his own for his third point on the afternoon with the assist from
Ethan Lang.

The afternoon ended tied 3-3 and skated into a three-on-three sudden death overtime where the Falcons netted the winner quickly after a quick steal. This was the Spartans forth overtime game of the season and will be looking for their first win in ImOn Arena on Saturday. Goalie
Erik Chaffe played a complete game making 17 saves. The Spartans had 30 shots on the afternoon and won 26 faceoffs and ended with 13 blocked shots.

UD students are busy preparing for finals next week and the men's hockey team will offer a study break on Saturday December 7 at 2:00 p.m. against the Concordia University for game two of the weekend series from ImOn Arena.
