DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque men's hockey team returned to the ice Saturday afternoon in another match-up with the 13
th ranked Trine University Thunder. The Spartans improved on the offense side outshooting the Thunder in the game. The Spartans had one goal on the day as they fell to the Thunder 3-1.
The Spartans once again were in a tough battle against the Thunder, as the Spartans outshot the Thunder 23 to 22. The lone goal on the afternoon came from freshman
Owen Hardy who logs his third goal of the season and his second goal in as many games. Hardy now has four total points on the season. Hardy's goal was assisted by
Jake Lamberty and it was his first point on the season.
Jack Paweski led the Spartans with five shots.
The Spartans won 31 of 55 faceoffs for a percentage of 56.3%.
Zach Burfoot led the Spartans winning 10 of his 14 faceoffs. The Spartans also had nine blocked shots as
Brandon Rossetti,
Brett Morich, and
Layten Liffrig each had two blocks. Sophomore goalie
Erik Chaffe played 58:38 of game time as the Spartans went with an empty net the final 1:22 of the game. Chaffe made 19 total saves on the day.
The Spartans fall to 0-5-1 on the season and 0-3-1 in NCHA play.

The Spartans will be back at home Thursday November 21 as they take on Marian University in a home and away series. The game will take place after the University of Dubuque women's hockey team also plays Marian at ImOn Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
