DECORAH, Iowa - The #18-ranked University of Dubuque men's wrestling team faced the #22-ranked Luther College on Friday night on the road. The Spartans captured the American Rivers Conference dual by a 22-12 margin. The host Norse won three out of the opening five matches, before the Spartans swept the final five matches winning two of them by a single point and dropping two Norse ranked wrestlers in the process.

Brady Koontz opened the night with a dominating 12-2 major decision to give UD the lead for the #3-ranked wrestler at 125 lbs. Evan Atchley put the Spartans on the board at 149 lbs., when he edged out an 8-7 win. UD's Alonzo Smiley beat #12-ranked Bryce McDonough in a narrow victory 4-3 at 165 lbs. Pilo Perez won at 174 lbs. by a 8-3 decision. Tyler Thurston would collect the 3-2 decision at 184 lbs. Eli Pannell won by decision 4-1 at 197 lbs. and Justin Matson toppled #9 ranked Walter West in a tie break 4-3.

The #18-ranked Spartans improved to 5-5 overall in dual meets and 2-2 in A-R-C. UD will host the #16-ranked Loras College Duhawks next Friday in McCormick Gymnasium.at 7:00 p.m.
