2023 Key City Clash to Honor Childhood Cancer Awareness

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque and Loras College will combine efforts in Saturday's Key City Clash to promote Childhood Cancer Awareness and honor four children of University of Dubuque Department of Athletics' staff members who have been diagnosed with pediatric cancer and have undergone or are currently undergoing treatment. Proceeds will benefit UD assistant baseball coach Andrew Redman and his family, whose 18-month-old son Everett, was diagnosed with a baseball size tumor on June 28, 2023 and underwent surgery on July 5, 2023 where they removed about 30% of the tumor. He will begin additional treatment next week at University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital in Iowa City.

Since the City of Dubuque played a key role in the early development of the state, Dubuque is often referred as "The Key City". The winner of the Key City Clash will proudly display the traveling trophy for the following year at their school. One side of the key is painted blue and white to represent the University of Dubuque while the other is painted purple and gold for Loras College. The winner of the annual game gains possession of the "Key to the City". The wooden key presented to the winner each year is six feet in length.

The last five meetings have been decided by less than a touchdown. The Spartans have won 11 consecutive and lead the Key City Clash series 11-3. KEY CITY CLASH HISTORY
