DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque baseball team was unable to avoid being swept by the Loras College Duhawks on Tuesday night at Petrakis Park as they gave up nine total runs in the fifth through the seventh innings losing by a final of 1-10. 

The Spartans hosted the first two games of the series against the Duhawks at home and would fall in both at the beginning of April (3-8, 6-7). Flash forwarded to Tuesday night and both the Spartans and Duhawks saw a low scoring game through 4.5 innings knotted at 1-1. The Duhawks would get to the Spartans pitchers over the next three innings scoring three runs in the fifth inning, two runs in the sixth, and four runs in the seventh to lead by nine runs 1-10. 

Hunter Hicks grabbed the lone RBI of the game for the Spartans in the third inning with a double to right field. Colin Husko went 2-3 at the plate and Daniel Maller went 2-4. The Duhawks managed 16 hits off four Spartan pitchers throughout the game whereas the Spartans managed only seven hits. Patrick Rafferty got the nod on the mound and went five full innings giving up four earned runs on eight hits. Christian Battista came in for relief of Rafferty pitching only one inning giving up six earned runs on five hits earning the loss. 

The Spartans move to 19-9 overall and 9-8 in conference play.
