Concordia Chicago Snaps Spartans Eight Game Winning Streak

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The University of Dubuque baseball team entered their final game in Florida having won their first eight games of the season before facing Concordia University Chicago on Saturday where they would have a tough second inning giving up seven runs and eventually falling 6-10 for their first loss of the season.

The Spartans struggled to start their final game over Spring break giving up seven in the bottom of the second inning capped off by a Concordia University Chacago grand slam. The Spartans first run of the game came in the top of the fourth inning after Jake Cekander singled to left field bringing in two runs. The Spartans would work to claw their way back into the game and cut the Concordia University of Chicago lead to 5-8. That was the closest they would get before falling for the first time on the young season.

Colin Husko (2-4) and Cole Destefanis (2-5) led the Spartans at the plate with two hits a piece. DeStefanis and Cekander each drove in two runs. Edward Rosas (2-1) earned his first loss of the season in 2.0 innings pitched. Anthony Scanlon (4.0) and Aidan Elfering (2.0) finished out the game for the Spartans on the mound in relief.
