DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque honored their seniors on Saturday and the Spartans jumped out to a quick lead before the hot shooting Simpson College Storm rallied and would lead the final three quarters in a 79-67 final in Stoltz sports Center. The Storm shot nearly 50% from the field and 90% at the free throw line. UD ended the afternoon shooting 40.7% from the field, 7-27 from the three point area (25.9%), and 75% from the free throw line.

Senior Tabria Thomas led the Spartans offense with a game high 29 points and no other Spartan would find double-digit scoring. The Spartans would out rebound the Storm 38-33 and were led by Morgan Hawkins who grabbed 11 boards. Mia Miller came off the bench to lead the reserves in scoring with nine points, three assists, two steals, and a block.

UD used a 10-0 run in the second quarter to push their lead to nine points and ended the day with 14:22 time with the lead.The Spartans committed a costly 23 turnovers which Simpson converted into 24 points.

The Spartans will play host to the Loras College Duhawks on Jon Davison Court on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m. The Duhawks won at Nebraska Wesleyan University by a 91-30 final on Saturday. Just a week left in American Rivers Conference regular season before play is tipped off for the 2023 A-R-C Women's Tournament.
