Box Score MEQUON, Wis. – On Monday night the University of Dubuque women's basketball traveled to Concordia University of Wisconsin home of the Falcons for a non-conference clash. The Spartans scored first and never looked back as they led for the entire game cruising to a 75-39 win.
In the opening minutes the Spartans jumped out to an early lead and outscored the Falcons by 14 points (26-12) at the end of the first quarter.
Megan Teal led the offensive attack with 13 points including a perfect 3-3 on threes.
Madi Petersen provided a spark off the bench with six points.
The second quarter featured a defensive battle as the Spartans limited the Falcons to seven points holding the hosts to 20% shooting from the floor. After made layups by
Morgan Hawkins and
Isabella Tierney the Spartans extended their lead to 19 and forced the Falcons into a timeout. At half the Spartans maintained a 37-19 lead.
Tabria Thomas scored the first points of the third quarter connecting on a pair of free throws. Teal and
Karsen Kershner combined for the next eight points for the Spartans with four each stretching their lead out to 47-24. As the quarter came to a close the Spartans led 54-31 and shot at an efficient clip of 46%.
In the fourth quarter contributions came from across the board as all 15 Spartans saw the court. Freshman,
Amy Theilen added to the Spartans 32 bench points with a career high five points in five minutes. The Spartans defense held the Falcons to eight points on their way to a convincing 75-39 win.
The Spartans were led by Teal who finished with 17 points on 7-9 from the field while Kershner scored 12 points and grabbed a team leading nine rebounds. Offensively, the Spartans shot 47% from the field as a team and out rebounded the Falcons by 12. The pressure by the Spartans forced 17 steals which resulted in 18 points off turnovers.
The Spartans are now 6-4 overall and 2-1 in conference.

The Spartans will enjoy some time off for Christmas and will return to action on December 29th as they partake in the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Winter Classic. On Friday, the Spartans will face Ripon College at 12:00 p.m. and then play Rockford University on Saturday, December 30th at 12:00 p.m.
