MADISON, Wis. - The University of Dubuque women's basketball team picked a road win on Saturday against the Edgewood College Eagles 71-61.
Tabria Thomas led the Spartans with 24 points as the Spartans picked up their fourth win in five games on the season.
The Spartans quickly fell behind the Eagles 0-6 before they went on a 24-7 run over the final 7:34 of the first quarter to lead by 11. The Spartans struggled in the second quarter as they were only able to make two baskets that led to six points in the quarter. However, the Spartans were able to hold a 30-29 lead at the half. The Spartans were than able to edge the Eagles in the third and fourth quarters to win by 10 points.
Thomas played all but eight minutes this afternoon going 8-17 from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line. With three steals, Thomas is now seven steals away from tying the all-time career steals record at UD.
Morgan Hawkins was the other Spartan in double figures with 13 points. She was also able to snag seven rebounds and dish out five assists.
The Spartans forced 31 Eagle turnovers in the game and turned them into 29 points for the Spartans. The Spartans had good production off the bench with 24 points. They were also able to hit 75% (18-24) from the free throw line.
The Spartans move to 4-1 overall.
