MONMOUTH, Ill. - The University of Dubuque softball team captured a pair of road wins in Sunday to extend their win streak to nine games after wins over Monmouth College by 11-2 and 6-0.
In the opener, the Spartans scored 11 runs off 14 hits with two errors. UD scored in all, but one inning in the six inning victory.
Kayla Breunig captured the win, allowing just two earned runs while striking out six. Not only in pitching, but she led her team by going 4-4 at the plate and scoring twice.
Emily Bloomer went 2-4 with three RBI's anh tripled in the fourth inning. Teammate
Dariann Diorio who went 2-4 with two RBI's including the game's only homerun.
Audrey Morris would finish with one hit, but earned two RBI's
In game two, UD won 6-0 after scoring six runs with 11 hits and played errorless.
Megan Wolff earned the win after allowing no runs, giving up just five hits, and striking out 10.
Callie Dutton was 3-3 at bat and
Deanna Origer went 2-4 at the plate with a team high three RBI's and the game's only double.
The Spartans (12-2 overall) will be off until March 26 went they travel to face the Wartburg College Knights in an American Rivers Conference doubleheader in Waverly, Iowa at 1 p.m.
