Women's Basketball Coast to a 65-41 Victory Over Regents

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's team returned to the court after the Christmas break and won 65-41 over the Rockford University Regents on Thursday night. The Spartans largest lead was by 30 points early in the third quarter as a dozen student-athletes played and 10 of them scored.

Three Spartans finished the night in double figures and were led in scoring by Tabria Thomas who had 14 points. She entered the night at 960 points and is edging closer to her 1,000th point as a Spartan. Maddie Monge came off the bench to end with 12 points after sinking 2-3 three point attempts and Isabella Tierney had 11 points. Kathleen Mathias and Morgan Hawkins both led rebounding with six each. Mathias added six assists and was 3-3 at the line.

UD's defensive pressure forced the visiting Regents into 30 turnovers and they would convert those into 31 points and scored 34 points in the paint. The Spartans made 24-53 (45.3%), 5-15 from the three point area (33.3%), and 12-16 at the free throw line (75%).

UD returns to Stoltz Sports Center tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 30 when they play a re-scheduled match-up with Milwaukee School of Engineering at 6:00 p.m. The game originally scheduled at MSOE will move to Dubuque where the Spartans look to continue winning on Jon Davison Court.
