DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's basketball lost their first game of the 2022-23 season on Sunday at Washington University by a 65-78 final.
The Spartans were led in scoring by sophomore
Morgan Hawkins who led all scorers with 22 points.
Tabria Thomas led rebounding with seven boards including six defensive rebounds while finishing with 15 points and three steals.
Lauren Livingston added nine and
Kathleen Mathias finished with eight points.
UD made 29-63 shot attempts from the field (46%), shot a cool 18.8% from beyond the three point arc after sinking just 3-16 attempts, and sank 4-10 free throw attempts.The Spartans were out rebounded 21-34 as the host Wash U shot 53.2% from the field, 44.% from the three point area, and made 20-30 free throws. UD scored 50 points in the paint, but the Spartans bench would add just seven points in the loss. Wash U out scored UD by 15 points in the first quarter and the pair of teams maintained the score the final three periods.
UD will travel to face Augustana College on Nov. 18 at 5:00 p.m. in Rock Island, Ill.
