Box Score INDIANOLA, Iowa - The #6 seed University of Dubuque men's soccer team ended their 2022 season on Saturday night in the American Rivers Conference first round game after falling to the #3 seed Simpson College Storm 4-1.
After a quiet and scoreless first half, the Storm were able to add four goals in the final 45 minutes. The Spartans were only able to add a goal in the 65th minute off the foot of
Drew Wisdom with the assist given to
Gavin Wooldridge. The Spartans were even throughout both halves with seven shots in each for a total of 14 shots (six on goal). The Storm were even with the Spartans in the first half with seven shots, but a strong second half allowed the Storm to get 15 shots off in the final 45 minutes.
The Spartans were given five corner kick opportunities compared to seven for the Storm. Both teams had two yellow cards given throughout the game.
Liam Persson and
Brandon Kaup led the Spartans with three shots each.
Matt Marchiori faced 10 shots and saved six of them.
The Spartans end their season at 8-7-4, 3-2-3 as the lone senior,
Lucas Von Braun plays his final game in a Spartan uniform. Men's Soccer All-Conference honors will be released later this upcoming week.
