Miah Smith added a lay-up with :45 seconds left in the first period. UD would trail 8-15 and fought the rest of the night trying to catch the visiting Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairiewolves who squeaked out a slim 64-61 victory over UD. UD never led on Saturday afternoon.
Tabria Thomas, who was celebrating a birthday, would cap off a 26 point performance early when she would foul out with :11 seconds remaining. Thomas was 7-10 from the field, 1-1 from beyond the three point arc, and a sizzling 11-12 at the free throw line.
Miah Smith scored 12 points, shooting 5-11 from the field and grabbing five rebounds. Kathleen had five assist and led rebounding with seven.
Karsen Kershner would block four NWU shots and led the team with three steals. UD was out rebounded in the loss 39-34.
The Spartans will host the Buena Vista University Beavers on Feb. 2 with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off. UD's season is winding down and have just five league games left before the A-R-C Tournament begins.
