.PELLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team after sleeping on two losses each by a run on Saturday against the Central College Dutch took out their frustrations on Sunday and dominated the hosts in a 13-5 five inning romp.
The Spartans scored in all five innings and scored 13 runs in 14 hits while committing two errors.
Lexi Schmidt captured the victory on the mound (11-4 overall) after allowing five earned runs and eight hits with one strikeout. UD finished the afternoon with six doubles and a triple.
Kylee Biedermann was 2-3 which included a double and a triple with an RBI.
Emily Bloomer went 3-4 and a game high four RBI's with a pair of doubles.
Lauren Brown was 2-2 with three RBI's, designated player
Rachel Trader was 2-2, and
Morgan Turnmire finished 2-3 with an RBI.
The Spartans (18-8 overall and 7-7 in A-R-C) next competition will be next weekend against the Coe College Kohawks in Dubuque with doubleheader beginning on Friday, April 23 at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24 the series continues with game at 1 p.m. and a JV game following the conclusion.
