DUBUQUE, Iowa - College Sports Communicators (CSC) released the 2024-25 Academic All-America® men's track & field/cross country teams on Wednesday morning. For the second consecutive year, graduate student
Otis Patterson earned CSC first team Academic All-America honors.
Patterson (Chicago, Ill. / Harold L. Richards) was one of 16 student-athletes in Division III with a 4.0 GPA in either undergraduate or graduate work. He is also in the top 0.4% of all Division III track and field / cross country student-athletes to have the title Academic All-America.
Patterson had an incredible year with numerous accolades that led to his second consecutive first team Academic All-America honor. In the outdoor track and field season, he was an NCAA qualifier in the 200 meters and 4x400 meter relay and most notably in the 400 meters where he earned second team All-American honors for his 10th place finish. He was also a A-R-C conference champion in the 4x400 meter relay and 400 meters, while adding on a runner-up finish in the 200 meters to be named A-R-C Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year. In the indoor season this past winter, Patterson was an NCAA All-American in the 4x400 meter relay with a sixth place finish. He dominated the conference indoor championships with three conference titles in the 200 meters, 400 meters, and 4x400 meter relay and was named A-R-C Indoor Track Most Valuable Performer.
Before being named first team Academic All-America, Patterson earned academic awards for CSC Academic All-District and A-R-C All-Academic while getting his graduate degree in Master in Management - Sport Management.
Patterson finishes his career as a three-time CSC Academic All-America with two first team selections (2024 & 2025) and a third team selection (2023). He is the first ever UD track and field student-athlete to be a two-time first team Academic All-America honoree.
